Is Your Marketing Out of Date?

Marketing Dates

  1. During the '90's, when I had my 1st start-up business, the world was indeed a very different place to what I know now.

Hardly any small businesses had a website, some never had email to use regularly and marketing was very much done the 'old school' way.

Here's a thought provoking question: are you still doing 'old school' marketing or are you taking advantage of the latest technology?

Let me show you an example:

I would start a mailing list and write a letter or mailshot, get it designed and printed (using the best method available) and then mail it out to the list.

If I was organised, the designer and printer would all be in contact with each other by phone and I could get it done and mailed out a month later.

The mail would arrive on my prospective customers about a week later and would wait a following week for a response.  All sounds great?

    It's 2014, fast forward...

This is how it now looks, using 'modern marketing' and new technology.
    • Use Google, Facebook and LinkedIn to find people interested in what you do.
    • Send them to a website specifically designed to turn visitors into prospects.
    • Use video instead of long copy to improve the conversion process and use the video to shorten the buying cycle.
    • All the prospects go into an email system and are automatically followed up – again and again.
    • Some become customers immediately, the rest keep getting emails until they become customers or unsubscribe.
    • Engage with the prospects and customers on social media.
